Lahore: The Crime Control Department (CCD) Punjab has claimed that Lahore witnessed a significant improvement in the crime situation in 2026 compared to the first three months of 2025.

Official statistics released by the Crime Control Department (CCD), obtained by GNN News, show that the incidents of robbery in the provincial capital decreased by 67 per cent, dropping from 12 cases to just 4.

According to the CCD, which is led by Additional IG Sohail Zafar Chattha, house robberies declined from 11 cases to zero, reflecting a complete elimination of such incidents during the period under review. Similarly, theft cases in Lahore dropped by 75 per cent, falling from 1,513 incidents to 372.

Likewise, incidents of car snatching decreased from 5 to 3, while motorcycle snatching cases fell sharply from 183 to 38, showing reductions of 40 per cent and 79 per cent respectively.

The released statistics further revealed a 73 per cent decline in car theft cases, which dropped from 73 incidents in the first three months of 2025 to 20 in the corresponding period of 2026. Motorcycle theft cases also decreased from 3,017 to 1,493, marking a 51 per cent reduction. Meanwhile, robbery-cum-murder incidents declined by 50 per cent, from 2 cases to 1.

According to CCD figures, robbery-cum-rape incidents dropped completely, from 2 cases to zero. Similarly, murder cases decreased from 104 to 57, reflecting a 45 per cent decline, while attempted murder cases fell from 227 to 126, showing a 44 per cent reduction compared to the previous year.

The statistics also showed that burglary incidents decreased from 1,122 to 576, registering a 49 per cent decline. However, officials stated that the CCD has not yet formally taken up burglary-related cases.
