Sustained crackdown against criminals

Police officials attributed the improvement to an aggressive anti-crime campaign launched under the leadership of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira.

According to a police spokesperson, the region-wide crackdown resulted in the arrest of 313 notorious criminal gangs, 827 suspects, and the disposal of 2,004 criminal cases. Police also recovered stolen property worth more than Rs282.2 million, including cash, gold jewellery, motorcycles, mobile phones and livestock.

The anti-narcotics campaign led to the registration of 5,166 cases and the arrest of 5,336 suspects. During the operations, police seized 341.452 kilograms of cannabis (hashish), 233.65 kilograms of crystal meth (Ice), 813.734 kilograms of heroin, 9.11 kilograms of opium, and 66,259 litres of illicit liquor.

Operations against illegal weapons resulted in the recovery of 2,429 pistols, 27 revolvers, 144 shotguns, 48 Kalashnikov rifles, 138 rifles, and 6,408 rounds of ammunition.

As part of enforcement of the Kite Flying Act, police registered 453 cases, arrested 486 individuals, and confiscated 50,580 kites and 1,278 string reels.

Thousands of proclaimed offenders arrested

The report further highlights extensive action against wanted criminals. Police arrested 201 proclaimed offenders wanted in murder cases and 248 wanted for attempted murder. In addition, 2,015 Category A and 5,324 Category B proclaimed offenders, along with 403 Category A and 3,618 Category B court absconders, were taken into custody.

Improved public service delivery

Alongside crime-fighting efforts, the Faisalabad Region Police also strengthened public service delivery. More than 6,641 citizens' complaints were resolved, while 1,787 online complaints were addressed. Police Service Centres provided services to over 296,737 citizens, and 18,664 complaints were resolved through Protection and Covenant Centres.

As part of internal accountability, authorities also decided more than 360 departmental show-cause notices and appeals.

Faisalabad Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sohail Akhtar Sukhaira, who is considered a professional police officer, says the region-wide decline in crime reflected the effectiveness of intelligence-based policing, coordinated operations and strict enforcement of the law.

He reaffirmed that indiscriminate action against criminals, narcotics traffickers and organised gangs would continue, adding that all available resources would be utilised to further strengthen the rule of law, enhance public confidence and ensure the protection of life and property across the Faisalabad Region.
