Lahore: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, has announced that due to ongoing tensions in the region and the government’s austerity campaign, the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been canceled, while the tournament schedule is also being revised.

According to details, speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that the PSL will definitely take place and will begin on March 26 as planned. However, initially, matches will be held without crowds, and games will continue behind closed doors as long as the current global situation persists.

He further stated that the PSL opening ceremony has been canceled, and the tournament matches will be held in Lahore and Karachi. He added that consultations regarding the league had been ongoing for several days.

He said it is uncertain how long the conflict in the Middle East will continue, and due to the current situation, fans cannot be allowed to attend stadiums. PSL matches will only be held in Lahore and Karachi, and he apologized to the people of Peshawar.

During the press conference, he said that the financial losses incurred by franchises will be compensated by the PCB itself. He added that purchased tickets can be refunded within 72 hours, and that more than one match will be scheduled in Peshawar next year.

Chairman Mohsin Naqvi further said that as long as the crisis continues, crowds cannot be permitted, and players will start arriving tonight and from tomorrow.
