PM Shehbaz cancels Russia visit amid escalating Iran conflict; emergency security meeting convened
Prime Minister has called a high-level meeting to assess the current regional security situation.


Islamabad: In view of the rapidly changing regional situation following US and Israeli attacks on Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has canceled his two-day visit to Russia and has convened an emergency meeting to review the security situation.
Sources say that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will no longer travel to Russia due to the deteriorating situation in the Middle East. He was scheduled to depart for Russia on Monday, but the visit has been canceled in light of the extraordinary circumstances.
Sources further revealed that the Prime Minister has called a high-level meeting to assess the current regional security situation. The meeting will be attended by senior military leadership and heads of intelligence agencies.
According to sources, the meeting will review the security situation in Afghanistan, Iran, and other countries in the region. Important consultations will also be held regarding Pakistan’s policy in the current scenario. In the coming days, Pakistan is expected to formulate official guidelines outlining its stance.
It is noteworthy that Iranian state media has confirmed the martyrdom of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Following his death, the Iranian government has announced 40 days of mourning.
According to Iranian state media, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei was martyred in his office while performing his official duties.
