Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday called Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi and thanked him for his support during the Senate polls.

PM also acknowledged PA Speaker’s efforts for smoothly handling the Senate polls process in Punjab. The premier on this occasion also requested Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to make sure the presence of PML-Q MNAs during the ‘Vote of Confidence’ in National Assembly.
It is preeminent to mention that 11 members from Punjab were elected unopposed in Senate polls. Polling in the Punjab Assembly was not required as senators were elected by mutual consent of political parties before the elections.
On the other hand, Prime Minister has also tasked Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to contact all MNAs of Punjab while he also instructed the Punjab’s Chief to arrange a dinner in honour of Punjab’s politicians at Punjab House, Islamabad.
Meanwhile, PM has also telephoned his important ally Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui of MQM and asked for his party’s support during the planned ‘Vote of Confidence’ in National Assembly.
Prime Minister talking to allies said that in collation government allies play an important role in strengthening the regime and his allies are with the government. In reply, the Government partners also avowed to support during the planned ‘Vote of Confidence’ and in every thick and thin.
Earlier, after Senate elections results, talking to a press conference Pakistan’s Foreign minister had said that The Prime Minister would take the ‘Vote of Confidence’ from the parliament.
Whereas opposition parties had expressed happiness over the victory of PDM candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani in the Senate general election in Islamabad and demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
During a joint press conference with several federal ministers, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said: "The Prime Minister and the PTI have decided that they will take a vote of confidence."
"Those who stand with Imran Khan will be seen on one side and those who are not with him have the right to join the other ranks."
