WEB DESK -- At the United Nations, Pakistan has called for an immediate de-escalation of the Ukraine conflict, urging both parties to respect international law.
Speaking at the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, Acting Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon urged both sides to exercise restraint and recommit to dialogue to achieve an early and lasting end to hostilities.
He particularly voiced concern over attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea, warning that the widening conflict posed serious risks to regional stability and the wider neighbourhood.
Ambassador Usman Jadoon stressed that military solutions could not deliver lasting peace, cautioning that continued hostilities would deepen divisions, prolong human suffering and diminish prospects for a sustainable settlement.
He underscored that diplomacy and dialogue remain the most viable path towards peace.
