CM Maryam Nawaz announces "Film City" project to revive Pakistan’s film industry

Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s film industry will be revived through modern technology, improved facilities, and enhanced resources. She announced that state-of-the-art facilities for film, TV, animation, and digital media will be provided under one roof.

Maryam Nawaz further said that the Film City project will include modern studios, sound stages, and post-production laboratories. Comprehensive shooting facilities, sets, and even a central lake will also be constructed as part of the project.

She added that convention halls will be established for hosting international events and award shows. A media trade hub, along with film and music schools, will also be included in the plan. The Film City project is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities.

Maryam Nawaz stated that the modern Film City will help promote animation, gaming, and digital media sectors, while reducing reliance on foreign countries for VFX (visual effects) and post-production services.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the Film City project is a significant step toward boosting the creative economy. It will provide a unified platform for talent, technology, and business, and will be completed in phases.
