Diplomatic win for Pakistan as US–Iran conflict pauses with conditional truce

Islamabad: Owing to Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, tensions in the Middle East have begun to ease. The United States and Iran have agreed to a conditional ceasefire for two weeks. Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the development and appreciated the positive role played by Pakistan’s leadership.

According to details, the 39-day-long conflict between the United States and Iran has finally reached a decisive turning point. Following Pakistan’s offer to mediate, the leadership of both countries agreed to a ceasefire.

Donald Trump announced the two-week ceasefire on social media late Tuesday night, responding to an offer by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He stated that the ceasefire is conditional, requiring Iran to fully restore and secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Referring to his conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Staff Asim Munir, Trump said that attacks on Iran were suspended at the request of Pakistan’s leadership.

The U.S. president also described Iran’s 10-point proposal as a solid foundation for negotiations, aiming to use this temporary pause to advance diplomatic efforts and pave the way for lasting peace in the region.

Iran Agrees to Temporary Ceasefire

On the other hand, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered all military units to halt operations following the ceasefire agreement, while emphasizing that this is not the end of the war but only a temporary pause.

In a statement broadcast by Iranian state media, all military branches were instructed to immediately comply with the ceasefire, while the country remains on full alert.

Iranian officials described the ceasefire as a “retreat of the enemy on the battlefield,” adding that if negotiations lead to political success, it would be considered a historic victory otherwise, the war would continue.

According to reports, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that if attacks on Iran stop, Iran will also halt its attacks. He added that, in coordination with the military, safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz could be ensured for two weeks.

Iranian media further reported that Trump accepted Iran’s conditions for ending the war, after which the two-week ceasefire was announced.

Israel Also Agrees to Temporary Ceasefire

Additionally, a White House official stated that Israel has also agreed to the temporary ceasefire.

According to the official, Israel has stopped bombing Iran and will participate in negotiations. Donald Trump announced the ceasefire just an hour and a half before a deadline given to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face potential strikes on civilian infrastructure.
