This step will help reduce government spending and ensure better utilization of public resources.

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in continuation of the decision to increase the petroleum levy on High-octane fuel, has imposed ban on the use of High-octane fuel in government vehicles with immediate effect.
According to details, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that if the use of high-octane fuel in any government department’s vehicle is unavoidable, the individual using it will have to pay for it from their own pocket.
He further said that the use of high-octane fuel at government expense has been strictly prohibited. The purpose of this decision is to ensure efficient and responsible use of national resources. He directed all federal departments, authorities, and subordinate institutions to ensure immediate and full implementation of this decision.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, a 50% reduction in fuel usage for government vehicles had already been implemented. Additionally, 60% of government vehicles have been grounded. The savings generated from these measures have been used to provide relief to the public and ensure cheaper fuel.
He emphasized that strict adherence to austerity policies and reduction of unnecessary expenditures is the need of the hour. This step will help reduce government spending and ensure better utilization of public resources.
The Prime Minister also directed the relevant authorities to establish an effective monitoring system to oversee the implementation of this decision and to take strict action in case of any violations.
