WEB DESK -- ISPR director-general Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said Pakistan will go to any extent in defending sovereignty of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In an interview with Arab News, he said Pakistan fully stands with Saudi Arabia, both diplomatically and physically.
The DG ISPR said Pakistan’s commitment extends to the protection of Islam’s two holiest sites in Makkah and Madinah. He said there should be no doubt on that. He said we will continue to defend Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against any aggression.
Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan's commitment to Saudi security is unconditional emphasizing that it stems from an emotive, deep-rooted, historical and unbreakable bond between the two countries’ peoples, militaries and political leaderships.
He said the politico-military leadership of Pakistan remains in continuous communication with the esteemed leadership of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on all matters.
The DG ISPR said Islamabad is consulting regional governments to seek a negotiated and peaceful outcome to the wider crisis.
Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry described the Islamabad MoU as a consensus document saying this provides the only real pathway forward for getting out of the complex military situation.
When asked whether Pakistan expects to bring Washington and Tehran back to negotiations soon, he said Islamabad continues to search for common ground despite mistrust, spoilers and detractors.
