Revolution in medical science, blood group of human kidneys successfully changed

Dr Stephen Withers, a scientist at the University of British Columbia in Canada, and his team have succeeded in changing the blood type of a human kidney for the first time.

According to a report published in the international journal Nature Biomedical Engineering, the researchers conducted an experiment in which a kidney with blood type A was successfully changed to group O, which is considered a universal donor, meaning it can be transplanted into any patient.

According to scientist Dr Stephen Withers and his team, this experiment was conducted on a 68-year-old brain-dead patient in Chongqing, China. The kidney continued to function properly for two days, after which a slight immune response appeared.

Dr Withers said that this is the first time that we have successfully demonstrated blood type change on a human level, which may be helpful in improving the results of transplants in the future.

According to experts, this development is a new ray of hope for millions of patients who miss out on the opportunity of transplantation due to blood group incompatibility, now the team is waiting for approval to start clinical trials soon.
