Punjab govt's important decision regarding toll plazas for public convenience

Lahore: The Punjab government has taken an important decision regarding toll plazas for public convenience.

In a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, it has been decided to abolish the slip system at all toll plazas in Punjab and to conduct complete digitalization.

In the meeting, various departments gave briefings on development projects, including transport, construction, energy conservation, and urban beautification projects. It was said in the meeting that a motorway-style app-based, one-system will be introduced at 38 toll plazas in Punjab.

This decision has been taken to provide convenience to the public and bring transparency and speed in transportation. The meeting chaired by the Chief Minister also approved public-private partnership for the construction, repair, and rehabilitation projects of five major roads.

It was said in the meeting that private institutions will work in these projects and the government will partner with them. This process is likely to reduce costs and improve the speed of work.

Punjab saved Rs40 billion through e-tendering. The Chief Minister ordered the installation of solar street lights on all newly constructed roads to save energy and promote an eco-friendly system.

The meeting also approved several projects for the beautification of Lahore. It was decided to run a fountain in the park in front of the railway station and a train for children. New roads and footpaths will also be built around the three-kilometer area of the station.

It was informed in the briefing that 54 bridges, 142 small bridges and 858 roads affected by the recent floods have been completely restored, and the construction and repair projects of all roads in Murree, Chakwal and most of the roads in Sahiwal have been completed.
