Citizens are urged to take precautionary measures in case of bad weather

Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued a rain alert for the upper regions of the province.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, heavy thunderstorms are expected in most districts of Punjab from October 5 to 7, with a likelihood of rainfall in the upper parts of the rivers as well.
Director General PDMA, Irfan Ali Kathia, has instructed all Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners across the province to remain on high alert. He stated that, as per the directives of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the district administrations have been notified accordingly.
The DG PDMA further explained that the expected rains may lead to increased water flow in Punjab’s rivers and associated streams, so all Deputy Commissioners and relevant officers must remain present in the field.
He added that alerts have also been issued to departments including Health, Irrigation, Communication and Works, Local Government, and Livestock. Citizens are urged to take precautionary measures in case of bad weather.
In the event of storms or strong winds, the DG advised the public to stay in safe locations and avoid unnecessary travel. He emphasized that during lightning or stormy weather, people should not stay under the open sky, and in case of emergency, they should contact the PDMA helpline at 1129.
