Monsoon to continue for 2–3 more days: NDMA

(Web Desk): Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, has stated that the monsoon season is expected to continue for another two to three days.

During a briefing in Islamabad on the recent monsoon and flood situation, Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik said that the situation in the areas surrounding the Sutlej, Ravi, and Chenab rivers is currently under control, although water flow remains strong at Head Panjnad and Guddu Barrage.

He noted that the floods have caused widespread destruction across the country, damaging livestock, property, and crops. He added that more than 2.4 million people in Punjab and 150,000 in Sindh have been relocated to safer areas.

The NDMA chief also thanked the charitable organizations involved in relief efforts during the floods and confirmed that rescue operations are still ongoing across the country.

He further stated that the Punjab government received 9,000 tents and over 9,000 tons of food supplies during the emergency.

In conclusion, Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik emphasized that rising temperatures are causing glaciers to melt at a rapid pace. He said that all institutions are now working on advanced planning and preparedness, stressing that collective action is essential to tackle climate challenges.
