Water level decreasing in Punjab's rivers: PDMA

Lahore: Director General (DG) Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab Irfan Ali Kathia has said that 50 precious lives have been lost in the flood-affected areas, and Rs1 million will be given to the families of the deceased.

While holding a press conference in Lahore, he stated that Sialkot and Gujarat were the worst affected by the floods, and all facilities have been provided for relief activities in Gujarat.

Irfan Ali Kathia says that the situation in Gujarat will improve in the next 12 to 14 hours. Rain is predicted in different divisions of Punjab, and the water level in the rivers of Punjab is decreasing.

He added that no new alert has been issued on any river in the last 18 to 22 hours, and the water in the Sutlej has been decreasing in the last 24 hours.

The DG PDMA says that water is also decreasing at Ganda Singh Wala. There is 71,000 cusecs of water at Jasar, 110,000 at Ravi Siphon, 107,000 at Shahdara, while the water level at Sadhanai is 170,000.

Irfan Ali Kathia said that water has decreased at Multan and Sher Shah, the spell of rains will not be too intense in the coming days.
