(Web Desk): A major terrorist plot was thwarted in Rawalpindi as the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and a sensitive intelligence agency arrested a highly dangerous terrorist affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij during a successful covert operation.
Explosives, hand grenades, and detonators were recovered from the terrorist’s possession.
According to the CTD spokesperson, the arrested terrorist had already conducted reconnaissance of sensitive locations and was planning a major attack.
It has been revealed that the suspect had traveled to Afghanistan multiple times for terrorism training and was in contact with a key commander of Fitna al-Khawarij.
The terrorist was arrested from an area in Rawalpindi, where he was preparing to carry out the attack. The spokesperson added that just a few days ago, the terrorist had shared videos of sensitive locations on social media.
Following the arrest, CTD registered a case and launched a detailed investigation, while security agencies are also probing his network and facilitators.
