Rain-related roof collapses in Lahore claim 8 lives

(Web Desk): Due to intermittent rainfall in Lahore, the roofs of two separate mud houses collapsed at different locations, resulting in the deaths of 8 people, including 2 children, and injuries to 3 others.

The Urban Search and Rescue team of Rescue 1122 responded promptly and rescued 3 individuals from the debris.

The first incident occurred in the Muridwal area of Thokar Niaz Baig, where the roof of a mud and wooden house weakened by the rain collapsed. Upon receiving the alert, Rescue 1122 dispatched emergency vehicles and a special Urban Search and Rescue squad to the scene. Using advanced live locators, they carried out the rescue operations.

Among the deceased in this incident were members of the same family: 60-year-old Manga, his 55-year-old wife Ishrat, their 35-year-old daughter-in-law Rani, 3-year-old granddaughter Khadija, and 4-year-old granddaughter Latifa.

The injured included 30-year-old Faisal, son of Manga, who was given first aid on the spot, while 5-year-old girl Bubbly, who sustained a head injury, was transferred to Jinnah Hospital.

The second tragic incident occurred in Mission Colony on Raiwind Road, where another mud house roof collapsed. Rescue 1122 teams arrived and carried out rescue efforts.

In this incident, 3 people lost their lives, while one person was pulled out alive from the rubble. The identities of the deceased in this incident could not be immediately determined.
