(Web Desk): Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has been hospitalized in London due to a severe illness, where he underwent various medical tests.

Altaf Hussain, the founder of MQM—which was initially known as the Muhajir Qaumi Movement—launched the political party to represent the Urdu-speaking community. He has been living in self-imposed exile in London since 1992, where he was later granted British citizenship. From London, he remained actively involved in politics and regularly addressed his supporters in Karachi.

Senior MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi, based in London, confirmed on the social media platform X that Altaf Hussain was admitted to a hospital due to deteriorating health and had undergone several medical tests. He appealed to the public to pray for the MQM founder's recovery.

In a video message, Azizabadi said Hussain’s condition worsened last night and, following a doctor’s examination and recommendation, he was admitted to the hospital. Multiple tests were conducted.

Azizabadi said Hussain is under medical care and expressed hope that "there is nothing to worry about."

It is worth noting that Altaf Hussain was previously treated in an intensive care unit in the UK in February 2021, reportedly due to COVID-19.
