Israeli PM nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday told President Donald Trump he had nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize, handing Trump a nomination letter during a meeting at the White House.

Speaking to reporters at the beginning of their meeting, Netanyahu said Israel was working with the United States to find countries that would give Palestinians a better future.

The Israeli Prime Minister stated that President Trump is very deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Responding to the question of a two-state solution for peace in the Middle East, the Israeli prime minister added that the Palestinians should have the power to govern themselves, but not the power to harm Israel.

The Israeli prime minister also said for the first time since the war with Hamas began that Palestinians who want to stay in Gaza can stay. Overall, security should remain with Israel, and Israel does not care whether people say it is a Palestinian state or not.

On this occasion, President Trump said that he was not aware that the Israeli Prime Minister had sent a letter to the Nobel Committee for him, but it is very meaningful that such a letter was sent by the Israeli Prime Minister.

President Trump stated that the United States has achieved many successes together with Israel, which will turn into more successes in the future and will yield good results.

Donald Trump added that the United States destroyed 3 nuclear facilities of Iran. He hoped that there would be no need to attack Iran now. He does not want to do that, and Iran is also no longer in the position it was two weeks ago.

President Trump said that he wants to lift sanctions on Iran and give them a chance; they have oil power, and they are great people.

On the question regarding the Israel-Iran war, the US President said that he hopes that this war is over. Iran wants to meet; they want to make peace. They also want peace. However, he also said that if it is not the case, we are ready and have the ability to do so.

President Trump said that we took steps with India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, Rwanda and Congo, among others, who were fighting each other, and the big war among them was between India and Pakistan. We stopped this war based on trade. We are dealing with India and Pakistan as well. We told them that if there were a war, we would not trade. These countries were potentially on the verge of nuclear war.

President Trump said that he is also trying to end the Ukraine-Russia war, and he is trying to stop the wars. However, he is not happy with Russian President Putin because he did not end the war with Ukraine.

US envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff expressed his expectation that talks on the nuclear program between the US and Iran will begin next week.

It is pertinent to note that this dinner meeting took place at a time when indirect talks for a ceasefire are underway between Israel and Hamas.

This is Netanyahu's third meeting with Donald Trump since he took office for the second time.

Pro-Palestinian protesters protested outside the White House during the Israeli prime minister's meeting with President Trump.

Notably, in recognition of President Trump's decisive diplomatic intervention in the recent Pakistan-India crisis, the Government of Pakistan decided to recommend the nomination of President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize 2026.

Later, the Government of Pakistan sent a letter of recommendation to the Norwegian Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump.

In addition, President Trump has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize 2026 by a Republican member of Congress in recognition of his role in the Israel-Iran ceasefire.
