Meta launches copyright check tool for Facebook Reels creators

(Web Desk): Meta has launched a new feature for Facebook Reels users that enables content creators to check for potential copyright violations in their videos before uploading them.

According to a tech website, Meta — the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp — has introduced this tool specifically for content creators, allowing them to determine whether their content may violate copyright laws before uploading Reels on Facebook.

This new feature has been added to the Reels Composer, which was previously only available through Meta Business Suite.

Now, all content creators can use the "Copyright Check" to verify whether any audio or visual content in their videos belongs to someone else before posting.

Regarding this feature, Meta has stated that it will alert users if their content includes material that falls under someone else's copyright. In such cases, the video will be blocked from uploading until the creator removes or edits the disputed content.

If a potential violation is detected, the publication of the video may be delayed by up to one hour. During this time, creators will be offered the option to use alternative audio or content.

This feature can be turned on or off as needed.

Meta also clarified that even if a content creator disables this feature and uploads a video, the system will still automatically scan the content. If a violation is detected afterward, the video may be partially blocked, have its reach limited, or have its audio muted.

The purpose of this feature is to protect creators from copyright issues so that their videos are not blocked, their reach is not reduced, and their earnings are not negatively impacted.
