Lahore: The Speaker of the Punjab Assembly has suspended 26 opposition members for 15 sessions and has also announced sending a reference against them.
According to the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, action was taken against 26 opposition members for rioting, sloganeering, shouting, and tearing documents. During this, 26 members were suspended for 15 sessions for violating the rules.
The suspended members include Malik Fahad Masood, Muhammad Tanveer Aslam, Syed Rifaat Mahmood, Yasir Mahmood Qureshi, Kaleemullah Khan, Muhammad Ansar Iqbal, Ali Asif, Zulfiqar Ali, Ahmed Mujtaba Chaudhry, Shahid Javed, Muhammad Ismail, Khyal Ahmed, Shahbaz Ahmed, Tayyab Rashid, Imtiaz Mahmood, Ali Imtiaz, Rashid Tufail, Rai Muhammad Murtaza, Khalid Zubair Nassar, Chaudhry Muhammad Ijaz Shafi, Saima Kanwal, Muhammad Naeem, Sajjad Ahmed, Rana Aurangzeb, Shoaib Amir, and Usama Asghar.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan announced that he would send references against 26 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members to the Election Commission today.
He said that the sanctity and order of the House will be maintained at all costs. The right to protest is recognized, but its limits are subject to the constitution, law, and rules. The system will not be allowed to be held hostage. It is my responsibility to prioritize the sanctity of the House. If a member does not accept the rules, it is my responsibility to prevent him from entering the House. It cannot be allowed that you pick up books and throw them at the members.
