Karachi: The Sindh Health Department has confirmed four deaths due to COVID-19 in Karachi. According to officials at a private hospital, the deceased were all over the age of 60.i

Infectious disease specialist Dr Faisal Mahmood stated that there has been a noticeable increase in COVID-19 cases over the past two to three weeks.

The symptoms among infected individuals remain consistent with those observed in previous years, including cough, cold, fever, and body aches. The public is being urged to take preventive measures and wear masks in crowded places.

Special precautionary measures have also been advised to protect children and the elderly from the virus. It is worth noting that the coronavirus, which originated in Wuhan, China in December 2019, had spread to nearly 185 countries by April 2020.

Since then, millions of people around the world have been infected, and over a hundred thousand lost their lives. European countries also reported fatalities linked to the virus.

Pakistan’s first confirmed COVID-19 case was reported in Karachi on February 26, 2020. Eventually, vaccines were developed, and billions of people around the world were inoculated. Over time, the deadly virus became more manageable, resembling a common illness in terms of severity and public perception.
