Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has sought an operational plan to combat AIDS in Taunsa Tehsil.
A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Maryam Nawaz in which the reasons for the alleged spread of AIDS in the Taunsa Tehsil were reviewed.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister sought an operational plan to combat AIDS in Taunsa Tehsil.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, a joint mission of UNICEF, WHO, and the Punjab Health Department was established, which will conduct history tracing of affected children from April 7 to 14 to combat AIDS.
The joint mission will submit suggestions to Maryam Nawaz for AIDS control and prevention. At her instructions, household screening will also be conducted in the affected areas.
Special centers for AIDS treatment have been established in Taunsa Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and other medical centers following the orders of Maryam Nawaz.
The Punjab Chief Minister directed that the treatment of AIDS-affected children be provided completely free of cost and said that no deficiency or negligence would be tolerated in the treatment of AIDS-affected children.
She directed that the causes and those responsible for the spread of AIDS be identified and effective and concrete measures be taken to prevent the risk of the disease.
