Lahore: A fire broke out in the lounge of Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, due to which the immigration process at the airport was affected, while the first Hajj flight from Lahore was also stopped.

According to a preliminary investigation, the fire broke out due to a short circuit in the ceiling of the immigration counter.

After a fire broke out in the lounge of the airport, civil aviation personnel were busy extinguishing the fire and it was brought under control.

Flight operations at the airport have come to a complete standstill since the fire broke out at 5:45am, which was first brought under control by Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel.

The civil aviation firefighter staff also reached the spot. Today was the first flight of the pilgrims whose passengers were shifted to a safe place. No casualties were reported due to the fire, however, a woman fainted and a child was shifted to the hospital due to her condition deteriorating.

The flights coming from foreign countries are being diverted to other airports in the country. The flight of Sri Lankan Airlines was diverted back, many other flights were also unable to land and the passengers who had boarded the Haji flight have been called in.

According to the authorities, the immigration process of Hajj pilgrims has been resumed at the domestic counter.
