PDM win in by-polls is a victory of democracy, says Gillani post meeting with Shahbaz
Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani has said that the victory of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) parties in by-elections is the victory of democracy.

While speaking to media post meeting with opposition leader in national assembly Shahbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader said that PDM is a reality which government has to accept.
“I met Shahbaz Sharif for the supremacy of parliament. I thank Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) for extending support towards me,” said Gillani who is a joint candidate of PDM in senate elections from Islamabad seat.
The PPP leader said that he also met Chairman of Balochistan National Party (BNP) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
“We talked about forgetting the past and moving forward. Even in past, we joined hands for the Charter of Democracy,” he said.
Condemning the horse-trading in senate elections, he said that the government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) tried to disqualify him,
“No matter what they do, eventually democracy will win,” he added.
Earlier, Yousuf Raza Gillani reached Accountability Court in Lahore where he met PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz, who is opposition leader in Punjab Assembly.
On the occasion, Gillani held consultations with Shahbaz Sharif on forthcoming Senate elections. He is also expected to meet PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz.
