PM Shehbaz Sharif inaugurates Google’s Pakistan office

ISLAMABAD -- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated Google’s office in Pakistan, marking a significant development in the country’s digital technology sector.

The prime minister also met a Google delegation, during which he said Pakistan represented the beginning of an important and promising new journey for Google, with enormous opportunities for the technology giant in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the government welcomed Google’s presence in Pakistan and looked forward to expanding cooperation in the digital and technology sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, a Google vice-president said the company sought a long-term partnership with Pakistan and stressed the need for further measures to promote digital technology in the country.

The Google executive also announced that Pakistani students would soon be offered free access to Google Gemini for one year.

The development is expected to provide students with greater access to artificial intelligence tools while supporting Pakistan’s broader efforts to expand digital skills and technology adoption.
