LAHORE: Two young children were seriously injured after being attacked by stray dogs in a private housing society in Lahore's Sundar area, with CCTV footage of the incident prompting renewed calls for action against the growing stray dog population.
According to eyewitnesses, the dogs attacked a young girl and a boy while they were in the street. CCTV footage shows one of the dogs dragging the girl along the road, while another dog simultaneously attacked the boy. A passer-by intervened and managed to rescue both children from the animals.
The injured children were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, residents called on the Lahore commissioner, the deputy commissioner, the housing society's management and the Punjab government to take immediate action to address the stray dog menace.

Residents said the increasing number of stray dogs posed a serious threat to public safety, particularly that of children, and urged the authorities to implement effective control measures, including vaccination and population management, to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Captain (Retired) Ali Ijaz has taken notice of the reported stray dog attack in a private housing society that left two young children injured and has sought a report from the Assistant Commissioner Saddar.
Describing the incident as deeply regrettable, the deputy commissioner said attacks by stray dogs on children were unacceptable and required urgent attention.
He said comprehensive recommendations aimed at addressing the stray dog menace would be prepared and forwarded to the Punjab government at the earliest to help prevent similar incidents in future.
