If you’ve been thinking about picking up a Kindle, Amazon’s Prime Day sale is a great time to do it. The retailer is currently offering steep discounts on several of its e-readers, including the latest Kindle Paperwhite with 16GB of storage and ads, which is down to $124.99 ($35 off) at Amazon. If you’d prefer wireless charging and double the storage, the ad-free Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is also on sale for $144.99 ($55 off) at Amazon.

The Kindle Paperwhite is the Kindle I recommend to most people because it gets all of the important things right. What I love most is that it offers an IPX8 water resistance rating, which means I never have to worry for its safety when I bring it into the bath, to the beach, or to the pool. That’s something the $109.99 entry-level Kindle can’t match.
It’s also the kind of gadget that’s especially useful for life on the go, whether that’s commuting or traveling for summer. Despite weighing less than the iPhone 17 Pro Max, it can store thousands of books and audiobooks, so you can bring a vacation’s worth of reading material without sacrificing luggage space. The battery also lasts long enough that you can often go months without reaching for a charger.
Most importantly, it’s a fantastic device to read on. The sharp, seven-inch display is easy to read outdoors in bright sunlight, while the adjustable warm light makes it comfortable to curl up with in bed. And if you somehow finish everything you’ve packed, it’s easy to download another title from Amazon’s Kindle Store in seconds and keep reading.
