PM Shehbaz Sharif again invites opposition for dialogue on charter of democracy and charter of economy

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has once again invited the opposition for dialogue, saying that opposition members are “our brothers” and there is no conflict with them. He urged political parties to move towards a Charter of Economy and a Charter of Democracy for the country's future.

According to details, while addressing the ongoing National Assembly budget session, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that all honorable members deserve respect and that representatives from all four provinces have been elected to the House, each with their own political views, vision, and ideas.

During his speech, the Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to the opposition, saying, “Opposition members are our brothers; there is no fight with them. I have repeatedly called for a Charter of Economy and a Charter of Democracy. Even today, I say it is not too late. I am ready to sit down and move forward, and I invite you to do the same.”

Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s stability is a shared responsibility and that provinces have a rightful claim to economic resources. He noted that Balochistan’s share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award had been increased by 100 percent.

He emphasized that this was not a favor to the people of Balochistan, adding that all provinces played a role in increasing Balochistan’s NFC share, while Punjab contributed the largest portion. He also mentioned that farmers in Balochistan had been provided with solar panels worth billions of rupees.

The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan’s existence and prosperity are of utmost importance and that no sacrifice is too great for the country. He described Balochistan as a beautiful province inhabited by brave and dignified people and reiterated that its NFC share had been doubled.

Referring to a speech by opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Shehbaz Sharif said he had listened to it carefully but would present a detailed response at an appropriate time.

The Prime Minister stated that no society can function without equality and justice and that ensuring balanced development across all four provinces is his responsibility. He also referred to the recent helicopter crash in which military officers and soldiers were martyred.

He said terrorism continues to affect Balochistan and alleged that militants operating in the province are receiving technical support from external elements. “Everyone knows who is behind terrorism,” he remarked.

Shehbaz Sharif added that significant resources are being spent on development projects, including more than Rs300 billion on the construction of the Gwadar-Chaman highway. He also noted that terrorism remains a challenge in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces continue to make sacrifices in the fight against militancy.

Paying tribute to the martyrs, the Prime Minister said their sacrifices save millions of children from becoming orphans. He urged the nation to collectively honor and respect the sacrifices of its martyrs, warning that the people would not forgive negligence in the fight against terrorism.
