The wide foldable phone that Samsung is reportedly developing is expected to arrive later this year, and now we may have some idea of what it will look like. Leaker and journalist Sonny Dickson has shared images online of what he says are dummy units of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldables, including the “Z Fold 8 Wide” — showing a passport-like design that’s primed to take on Huawei’s Pura X Max and Apple’s long-rumored foldable iPhone.
The leaked dummy unit suggests that Samsung’s wide foldable will feature a dual-camera setup on the rear, down from three cameras on Samsung’s other Z Fold phones. All three of the dummy units feature prominent rings that suggest support for Qi2 wireless charging, which would be a first for Samsung. That would tee up the Z Fold 8 Wide to better compete against Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which also comes with Qi2 support, and the Pura X Max, which became the first wide-style foldable you can actually buy after it launched in China last week. Dickson says the Z Fold 8 Wide dimensions also line up with the expected size of the iPhone Fold, adding weight to previous reports about sizing similarities.

We can’t glean much else from the leaked images, but showing the upcoming models side by side also provides a good comparison for how the Z Fold 8 Wide may compare to Samsung’s existing foldable designs. Here’s hoping it lasts longer than Samsung’s short-lived TriFold experiment when (or if) the Z Fold 8 Wide actually makes it to market.
