High-level meeting reviews country’s security situation

Islamabad: A high-level meeting on national security chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has concluded.

The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, along with senior civil and military officials.

The meeting reviewed the evolving global security landscape and the law and order situation across the country. Participants also assessed Pakistan’s response to ongoing aggression by the Afghan Taliban along the country’s western border.

During the session, participants appreciated the effective and comprehensive operations carried out by Pakistan’s armed forces and air force against “Fitna al-Khawarij.” They reaffirmed their resolve to safeguard Pakistan’s integrity, sovereignty, and dignity at all costs.

The meeting also discussed the situation arising after the attack on Iran and the developments in the Middle East and Gulf region following recent attacks.

On the Prime Minister’s instructions, measures for the evacuation of Pakistani citizens in light of the situation in Iran were reviewed. The Foreign Office provided a detailed briefing on efforts to ensure the safe return of citizens.

The meeting was informed that arrangements are being made to facilitate the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iranian territory through Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, participants reiterated their commitment to formulating a comprehensive and unified national foreign and domestic policy in view of the prevailing global security environment.
