Asia Cup: India refuses to receive trophy from Mohsin Naqvi over victory

India has come up with another controversy even before winning the Asia Cup. Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to accept the trophy from the hands of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi if they won the final.

The controversy that started between Pakistan and Indian players in the Asia Cup over not shaking hands has intensified.

After India violated the sportsman spirit in the Pakistan-India match, an attempt is being made to make the closing ceremony of the Asia Cup 2025 controversial.

Indian T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav has told the ACC that he will not accept the trophy from the Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The Indian captain has demanded that the ACC not invite its Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to the closing ceremony of the tournament.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wrote a second response letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and reiterated its principled demand for the removal of T20 Asia Cup match referee Andy Pycroft.

On the other hand, doubts remain over the match between Pakistan and India in the Asia Cup today, with the ACC today removing the match banner after posting it.

Yesterday, Indian media claimed that the ICC had rejected Pakistan’s demand to remove Andy Pycroft, but this has not yet been confirmed by the ICC.

It is pertinent to note that this matter started at the opening ceremony of the Asia Cup 2025 when, as per protocol, during the unveiling of the trophy and the captains’ press conference, Indian team captain Suryakumar Yadav, like other captains, shook hands with ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and national team captain Salman Ali Agha, the pictures of which went viral on social media.

As soon as the pictures went viral, Indian extremists attacked Surya Kumar Yadav and declared him a traitor. Thus, the Indian captain came under pressure from extremist Hindus and did not shake hands with the national players in a match against Pakistan, violating the spirit of sportsmanship.
