‘I’m closely watching and listening to everything related to the Russia-Ukraine issue’

(Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has said he is committed to brokering a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, although hopes for direct negotiations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remain uncertain.
In an interview with CBS News on Wednesday, Trump stated, “I’m closely watching and listening to everything related to the Russia-Ukraine issue,” and confirmed that discussions with both Putin and Zelensky are ongoing.
The US President acknowledged that neither country is currently ready for a ceasefire, but added, “We’re going to make it happen.”
Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the continued bloodshed in the conflict, but reaffirmed his determination to continue efforts toward a peace agreement.
He also said he plans to speak more about the war in Ukraine in the coming days, particularly following his summit with Putin in Alaska in August, which ended without any major breakthrough.
According to a White House official, Trump is expected to hold a phone conversation with Zelensky on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin also stated on Wednesday that he is open to meeting Zelensky in Moscow, but stressed that any such meeting must be well-prepared and yield clear, tangible results.
Putin warned that if no acceptable resolution is reached in such a meeting, Russia retains the capability to resolve the issue militarily.
As of now, no official response has been issued by either the Ukrainian President’s office or the White House.
