Rain, thunderstorms forecast for Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has forecast thunderstorms and rain in Islamabad and its surrounding areas in the next 12 hours.

According to the forecast, several other regions across the country are also likely to receive rain. Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Loralai, and Kohlu may witness showers, while Sibi, Dera Bugti, Lasbela, Kalat, and Khuzdar are also expected to receive rainfall.

In Punjab, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum are likely to experience rain, along with Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, and Wazirabad. Showers are also forecast for Sahiwal, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Kasur, Okara, Narowal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Sialkot, and Sheikhupura.

In Sindh, Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Tharparkar, and Thatta may witness rain, along with Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Mithi, and Badin.

For Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is expected in Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Buner, Kohat, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, and Hangu, while Gilgit-Baltistan may see strong winds with thunderstorms.

In Azad Kashmir, heavy rainfall is expected at some locations with thunderstorms.

The NDMA has warned of a high risk of landslides in the country’s mountainous regions following recent rains.

According to the authority, heavy downpours are also expected in the northeastern districts of Punjab over the next few days.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mountainous areas, particularly Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, and Mansehra, there is a threat of landslides and severe rainfall.

Authorities have directed local administrations and rescue agencies to remain on high alert to ensure swift action in case of any emergency.
