Court issues arrest warrants for 50 PTI leaders including Alvi, Gandapur

The warrants were issued in connection with a case related to the Nov 26 protest

Court issues arrest warrants for 50 PTI leaders including Alvi, Gandapur

Islamabad: An anti-terrorism court has issued arrest warrants for 50 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including former President Arif Alvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

The warrants were issued in connection with a case registered at Karachi Company police station related to the November 26 protest. Today, the court issued arrest warrants for 41 PTI leaders, while warrants for 9 others had already been issued, bringing the total to 50.

The arrest warrants were issued in case number 1193 registered at Karachi Company police station. The accused include Arif Alvi, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, and Ahmad Niazi.

Additionally, arrest warrants were issued for KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Khan Swati, Omar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar, and Sher Afzal Marwat.

Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the anti-terrorism court issued the warrants due to the accused failing to appear before the court. The court has ordered their immediate arrest and production before the court.

It is worth noting that 32 cases related to the protests of November 24 and 26 have been registered in the Rawalpindi Division, including one in which Bushra Bibi has been nominated in the November 26 constable murder case registered at the Taxila police station.
