Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and his wife Thursday visited the family of Captain Basit Ali, who embraced martyrdom, at his native village near Haripur and offered fateha, an Inter-Services Public Relations' release said.

The Army chief met the heirs of the martyred army officer and prayed for the departed soul.
Speaking on the occasion, General Bajwa said "nothing could be greater than sacrificing ones life for the defense of the country".
"The entire nation is proud of unforgotten sacrifices our national heroes gave to their motherland," he said , adding armed forces would foil any conspiracies hatched by the enemies of Pakistan to sabotage the country's peace.
