Storm of winds blowing at a speed of 70 kmph swept Lahore and other areas


Lahore: 21 people died and 57 were injured during the rains in Punjab from June 25 to June 29.
Two 220 kV grid stations of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) were shut down due to torrential rain, which disrupted power supply to several areas of Lahore.
A storm of winds blowing at a speed of 70 kmph swept Lahore and other areas, causing trees and walls to fall at many places.
A man died when a billboard fell on a family riding a motorcycle on Bund Road in Lahore, while his wife and son were injured. Two people died when the roof of a house collapsed in Daroghewala, while one person died when a wall collapsed on Katar Bund Road.
Meanwhile, a 10-year-old child died after a house wall collapsed in Khanpur village of Sheikhupura. One person died after a wall collapsed in Kot Abdul Malik, another person died after being struck by lightning in Nowshera Virkan, while one more died after being electrocuted in Nandipur village of Gujranwala.
27 people were injured in other incidents, including the collapse of walls and roofs due to rain and storm in Ferozewala, Kasur, Gujranwala, Nankana Sahib, and Sheikhupura.
