Sindh govt to produce film on Abdul Sattar Edhi’s life

(Web Desk): The Sindh government has confirmed that it is working with filmmakers to produce a movie based on the life of the renowned late humanitarian, Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Sindh’s Senior Provincial Minister and Minister for Information, Sharjeel Inam Memon, confirmed the development during his address at a film festival held in Karachi.

In his speech, he cited the example of India, saying that the country uses films as a medium for propaganda to spread its narrative across the world, whereas in Pakistan, films are not given the same level of importance.

According to the provincial minister, following the recent war between Pakistan and India, India is planning to make around 100 films based on the event, while Pakistan lags behind in this regard.

Continuing his remarks, Sharjeel Memon said that Pakistan has countless stories and subjects that should be made into films.

He stated that it is our responsibility to produce films about national heroes and individuals who have made significant contributions in various fields.

The minister further said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sindh, in collaboration with filmmaker Satish Anand, is making a film on the life of the well-known humanitarian Abdul Sattar Edhi.

According to him, while everyone in Pakistan knows Abdul Sattar Edhi, the new and upcoming generations may not be as familiar with him. Therefore, it is our duty to introduce such personalities to younger generations through films.

Although Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed the film on Abdul Sattar Edhi’s life, he did not provide further details in this regard.

It is worth noting that Abdul Sattar Edhi, the founder of the Edhi Foundation, passed away in July 2019 at the age of 88 after a prolonged illness.
