Pakistan granted ambassadorial status to its Charge d’Affaires in Kabul


Islamabad: An important diplomatic development has come after Pakistan decided to appoint an ambassador to Afghanistan, under which the Afghan Taliban government has also welcomed this move of Pakistan and announced the promotion of its charge d’affaires in Islamabad to the rank of ambassador.
A statement issued by the Afghan Foreign Ministry said that it welcomes Pakistan’s decision and that this move will pave the way for the development of relations between the two brotherly countries.
Pakistan’s decision to appoint an ambassador to Afghanistan has come after recent improvement in diplomatic relations and mutual consultations, which is being seen as a positive development at the regional level.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan welcomes the decision of the Government of Pakistan to upgrade the level of its diplomatic mission in Kabul to that of an ambassador.

According to reports, this development at the diplomatic level between the two countries can be helpful to open the doors for direct talks on important issues such as trade, security, and refugees.
It is pertinent to note that yesterday, Pakistan granted ambassadorial status to its Charge d’Affaires in Kabul, Obaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. Pakistan has appointed its ambassador to Afghanistan for the first time since the Afghan Taliban took power in 2021.
The move reflects Islamabad’s desire to improve diplomatic relations with Kabul and foster relations with the Afghan Taliban administration. Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in Kabul, Obaid-ur-Rehman, has been appointed ambassador.
