Lahore: The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 across the province in connection with Eid-ul-Adha, and a notification has also been issued.
Restrictions under Section 144 will apply from Thursday, June 5, to Wednesday, June 11. The Punjab Home Secretary has imposed the ban under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898.
According to the notification, a ban has been imposed on burning the remains of sacrificial animals in public places on the occasion of Eid. Swimming, bathing, and boating in rivers, lakes, canals, and dams will also be banned.
Section 144 has been imposed on throwing animal waste and dung into manholes, drains, or canals. Buying and selling sacrificial animals at any place other than approved livestock markets will be banned. Section 144 will also remain in force on the display of arms and ammunition.
The notification further states that the decision to impose restrictions was taken for the protection of human lives, peace, tranquility, and improvement of the environment.
The aforementioned activities are not only a threat to public safety and public health but also cause anxiety among the people.
No banned organization will be allowed to collect sacrificial skins on Eid. Only organizations registered with the Punjab Charity Commission will be able to receive sacrificial skins.
The administration and law enforcement agencies have been directed to ensure implementation of the orders.
