Israel threatens Hamas to be wiped off if ceasefire deal not accepted

Washington: Israel has warned the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas in strong words that it should accept the agreement presented for the release of hostages in Gaza, otherwise it will be erased from its page.

According to a foreign news agency, the Israeli Defense Minister has said that Hamas must accept the ceasefire plan presented by US envoy Steve Wittkoff, otherwise it will be doomed.

He stated that Hamas must now decide whether to accept the US agreement for the release of the hostages or else it will be destroyed.

This statement came at a time when Israel accepted and signed the US agreement regarding the ceasefire, while Hamas has not yet made any decision in this regard.

A senior Hamas official says that they will reject the proposed US plan for a Gaza ceasefire and the release of Israeli hostages.

A senior Hamas official told the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) that the US-proposed plan for Gaza ceasefire and hostage release does not meet basic demands, including an end to the war, and therefore will reject it.

A senior Hamas official said that Hamas will give a formal response to the US-proposed plan in the coming days.

On the other hand, US President Trump, while talking to reporters at the Oval House, said that a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas could be reached soon. We will inform you about it today or tomorrow.

New ceasefire agreement

According to Arab media, the proposed agreement includes a 60-day ceasefire in exchange for the release of 10 Israeli hostages. The agreement also includes the release of Palestinian prisoners in two phases.

Under the agreement, five hostages will be released on the first day of the ceasefire and five on the 60th day of the ceasefire, while US President Trump will guarantee the ceasefire agreement and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

The proposed agreement also includes the provision of unconditional humanitarian aid from the first day of the ceasefire.

It is pertinent to note that Israel resumed bombing Gaza on March 18, violating the Gaza ceasefire.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has worsened, and the United Nations has warned that the entire population of Gaza is at risk of famine.

More than 54,000 Palestinians have been martyred and more than 100,000 injured in the Israeli aggression in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
