‘New chair will focus on incorporating emerging technologies into clinical teaching and research’

Lahore: The University of Lahore (UOL) has appointed Prof Dr Khalid Anis as the inaugural Chair of Transformational Health, a newly established role aimed at advancing the institution’s healthcare education and clinical practice.
Dr Anis, a seasoned clinical leader with over 30 years of experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) and other public health sectors, will work to integrate innovation into UOL’s medical and dental education. His professional background includes advisory roles with the UK Department of Health and the World Health Organisation, as well as leadership positions in public health and primary care.
According to a statement from the university, the new chair will focus on incorporating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and system-level innovations into clinical teaching and research. The position is also expected to strengthen ties between UOL and international healthcare systems.
UOL’s Board of Governors Chairman Mr Awais Raoof said that the appointment is part of the university’s broader efforts to modernise its healthcare platforms, including the University College of Medicine & Dentistry, Allied Health Sciences, and the University of Lahore Teaching Hospital.
Dr Anis, who has been recognised with an MBE for services to healthcare in the UK, expressed his intent to help the university enhance its academic environment and research capabilities. He noted that his work would focus on improving faculty engagement, student experience, and public health outcomes.
In the coming year, UOL plans to initiate new partnerships and research collaborations, particularly in areas involving digital health and public health integration.
