Tensions exist with India, risk of strategic miscalculation cannot be ruled out: CJCSC

Rawalpindi: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza says that tension with India is still there, and the risk of strategic miscalculation cannot be ruled out.

Talking to a foreign news agency, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Sahir Shamshad stated: “We are returning to the situation before April 22, nothing is happening at this time”.

Sahir Shamshad added that in the recent Pakistan-India conflict, both countries did not use nuclear weapons, but it was a very dangerous situation. The fear of strategic miscalculation cannot be ruled out at any time because the tension is still there, and the reactions to the tension may be different.

He further said that in the future, such a situation will not be limited to the disputed areas but will spread to the entire India and Pakistan.

He also stated that the recent clash between Pakistan and India has narrowed the boundaries between the two nuclear powers; the time frame for the international community to intervene is now very short. These issues can only be resolved through dialogue and consultation, not on the battlefield.
