‘All necessary arrangements for the project have been completed’

Karachi: The Sindh government has decided to hold a lottery next month for the distribution of electric scooters (e-scooters) to women.
In the first phase of this initiative, 1,000 women will be provided with electric scooters, and all necessary arrangements for the project have been completed. A detailed review of major transport projects, including electric taxis and electric scooters, was conducted in a meeting chaired by Transport Minister Sharjeel Memon.
Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that EV taxis and scooters are not only a source of employment for youth but will also play a vital role in improving women's mobility and environmental sustainability. The government is aiming to launch both the e-scooter distribution and the EV taxi project by June 2025.
During the meeting, Yellow Line BRT Project Director Zamir Abbasi informed that a key segment of the Yellow Line BRT—the Jam Sadiq Bridge—will be completed by June 2025, ahead of its scheduled date of September 2025.
The CEO of Trans Karachi, while briefing on the Red Line BRT project, stated that substantial work is underway on the construction of depots, stations, and the biogas plant. Sharjeel Inam Memon instructed all relevant departments to ensure timely and high-quality completion of all projects.
