WhatsApp Web to soon support voice and video calling

(Web Desk): WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps owned by Meta, is continuously working on new updates to enhance user convenience. Now, a major and welcome change is expected for WhatsApp Web users, which will make everyday communication even easier.

According to recent reports, WhatsApp is preparing to introduce voice and video calling features in its web version. Currently, this functionality is limited to the mobile app and specific desktop applications, forcing web users to rely on their mobile phones for making calls.

Technology tracking platform WABetaInfo reports that the new feature may soon be included in the latest version of WhatsApp Web and is currently under development. Although an official release date has not been announced, it is expected to be available to the general public soon.

Once rolled out, users will be able to make individual or group voice and video calls directly through browsers like Chrome, Safari, and Edge. This means that users on Windows and macOS will no longer need to download a separate desktop app for WhatsApp calls.

It’s worth noting that WhatsApp first launched its desktop calling feature in 2021, but it was limited to select users. This new step will prove to be a major convenience—especially for users who rely on the web version of WhatsApp during daily work.
