US urge India, Pakistan to not escalate tensions, find solution to problem

Washington: The United States has urged India and Pakistan not to further escalate the situation amid rising tensions following the Pahalgam attack.

US State Department spokesperson Timmy Bruce said in a press briefing that both Pakistan and India are being contacted on the situation in Kashmir, and they are being asked not to escalate the tension.

To a question, Timmy Bruce stated that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will speak to the foreign ministers of Pakistan and India today or tomorrow. He is also encouraging other national leaders and foreign ministers to contact Pakistan and India on this issue.

The State Department spokesperson added that steps are being taken on this issue on a daily basis. The ministers are talking directly to their counterparts in Pakistan and India, and it is expected that this will certainly have the same impact as the ministers talk to other people.

Timmy Bruce further said that in the presence of President Trump's leadership, those talks are certainly important for Pakistan and India.

To another question, Timmy Bruce said that the United States is monitoring the situation. There is contact with the governments of Pakistan and India, not only at the level of the foreign ministers but also at many levels, and the parties are being asked to find a responsible solution because the world is watching this situation.

She continued to say that the most important thing at this moment is that the negotiations of Foreign Minister Marco Rubio yield results.

It is pertinent to note that tensions between Pakistan and India have increased after the killing of 26 Indian tourists in the Pahalgam area of occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan has also responded forcefully to the steps taken by India, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
