Amman: Former Jordanian Crown Prince Hamzah bin Hussein has claimed that he is under house arrest and his body guards has been detained as part of a crackdown on critics.

As per details, in a video statement, Hamzah said he is currently not allowed to leave his house or meet with other people.
"I recorded this video to make it clear that what has been said officially is not a reflection of what is actually happening on the ground," he said.
He further added, “My security has been removed, and number of people that I know have been arrested”.
The former Crown Prince says his internet and phone lines have been cut and said “It’s may be the last time I am able to communicate”.
Prince Hamzah also denied all allegations of wrongdoing by the authorities, criticizing the Jordanian government for the deteriorating human rights situation in the country.
He went on to say, "I am not the person responsible for the breakdown in governance, the corruption and for the incompetence that has been prevalent in our governing structure for the last 15 to 20 years and has been getting worse”.
He further stressed, “I am not responsible for the lack of faith people have in their institutions”.

Meanwhile, the military earlier denied Prince Hamzah was under house arrest but revealed that the prince had been ordered to stop actions that could be used to target state’s security and stability.
Apparently, the move came after a visit by the prince to tribal leaders where he is said to have garnered some support.
Prince Hamzah was named crown prince of Jordan in 1999 and is a graduate of the UK's Harrow School and the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst. However his older half-brother, Abdullah, ascended the throne and stripped his title of crown prince in 2004.
