Cairo: Mummies of ancient rulers of Egypt will be a part of historic procession in Cairo expected to be witnessed by thousands of people.

According to details, the procession, which will take on streets of Cairo, will have 22 mummies - 18 kings and four queens - transported from the neo-classical Egyptian Museum to their new place which is approximately five kilometers away.
Amid tight security arrangements, the mummies will be shifted to the new National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in what is called The Pharaohs' Golden Parade.
What interests people the most is that all mummies will be transported in the chronological order in which they have ruled Egypt, from the 17th Dynasty ruler, Seqenenre Taa II, to Ramses IX, who reigned in the 12th Century BC.
Some of the famous ancient rulers that will be part of parade include King Ramses II, the most famous pharaoh of the New Kingdom and Queen Hatshepsut who reigned even though the customs of her time were that women did not become pharaohs.
Each mummy will be transported on a specifically designed and decoirated vehicle fitted with special shock-absorbers and surrounded by a motorcade, including replica horse-drawn war chariots.
The mummies were discovered in 1881 and 1898 in two caches in the ruins of Thebes, Egypt's ancient capital - modern day Luxor in Upper Egypt.
