Punjab announces plan to reopen marriage halls after protests
Lahore: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal announced on Monday that restaurants and marriage halls, which had been closed due to coronavirus, will be reopened in first week of September.

The announcement comes after owners of marriage halls and marquees held a protest rally in a creative way where they took to the roads with ‘Band Bajja’ and wedding baggi.

Peoples of different profession linked to this sector also participated in the rally, which was held from Gulberg to Lahore Press Club.

As the rally choked various roads in Lahore, the minister reached for negotiations and announced to reopen the halls in September.

However, protesters rejected the announcement and staged sit-in at Chairing Cross.
